A holistic approach to the management of organic and recorded information

Summary/Abstract: Our approach is primarily based on the perspective adopted by the Association of Archivists of Quebec regarding the management of organic and recorded information. This perspective is notably founded on the theory of the three ages, which encompasses the complete life cycle of documents/archives—from their creation to their disposal or permanent preservation. Such a perspective represents an original synthesis that integrates both the principles and practices of records management (American model) and those of historical archives management (European tradition).
