Summary/Abstract: The name of Cronaca Veniera has been adopted by various scholars when referring to three particular codices, that is M 1568 and M 791, preserved at Marciana National Library in Venice, and von Ranke 69 from Syracuse University Library, New York. For the former two of them, the basis for this ascription has probably been represented by the two Marcian former catalogues, by both that of the codices’ class (“Ital. VII.” catalogue, for M 1568) and that on topics (“Soggetti Veneti” catalogue, for M 791 and M 1568). As for the codex at Syracuse University, the reason for this ascription has originated in one of the two inscriptions on the front page, ascribed to Leopold von Ranke himself, with the following mention: “Dalle citationi del Foscarini si ricava indubitam(ente) che questa è la cronaca chiamata Venier.”
