Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to examine the attitudes of students about online education, with the emphasis on questioning the use of digital technologies in the teaching process. After the research, the obtained results can be used primarily as a basis for adapting existing teaching processes for the benefit of students and teaching, but also for the development of future educational contents. Methodologically the paper consist of two parts, theoretical and empirical. It bases its theoretical framework on the historical and comparative method of analysing the development of education with the aim of descriptively describing the historical fact that education has always experienced radical changes, while the empirical part of the research refers to a survey with processing at the univariate level that shows the opinions and attitudes of the student population. After the analysis, the differences between the two researched groups are determined and such results are interpreted. In conclusion, the paper offers two types of contributions, the academic one that critically considers the implementation of digital tools in the future of higher education, while the business contribution is of an evaluative nature and offers important insights necessary for making quality business decisions with the aim of maintaining competitiveness on the higher education market. After the analysis, it was determined that students generally have a positive view of online education, but students of the selected groups evaluate the importance of this type of education differently when choosing a study program.
