Summary/Abstract: The emergence of neo-banks, Big Tech, and FinTech competitors is rapidly transforming the banking sector, forcing traditional banks to adopt advanced technologies like artificial intelligence to remain competitive. This paper examines the application of artificial intelligence in the banking sector, with a specific focus on generative artificial intelligence. It explores the various ways artificial intelligence is being used to enhance efficiency, improve customer service, and automate processes within banks. The paper presents a case study of JPMorgan Chase, a leading global financial institution that has successfully integrated artificial intelligence into its operations. Additionally, it provides an overview of the current state of artificial intelligence adoption in banks in Serbia, highlighting the progress made by the National Bank of Serbia and other commercial banks in utilizing artificial intelligence. The paper concludes by emphasizing the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in the banking sector and its role in shaping the future of financial services.
