Summary/Abstract: A text dedicated to the night and its symbolic connotations with regard to Pascal Quignard’s album-essay “The Sexual Night” (translated by K. Rutkowski). The author of the sketch enquires about Pascal Quignard’s inspiration sought in night-time darkness and obsessions of darkness prior to man’s birth. R. Zając points to Georges Bataille and his album “The Tears of Eros” as an important context of the imagination of the French man of letters. She is interested in the symbolic dimension of both the night and existential situations recurring in Quignard’s world.
