Twenty years of the operation of the Institute for Scientific Research and Artistic Work of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Bjelovar 2003–2023: tributes for the history

Summary/Abstract: The Institute for Scientific Research and Artistic Work of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Bjelovar was established based on the idea of the decentralisation of science in the Republic of Croatia. The Assembly of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts decided on the establishment of the Institute on 29 December 2003, at the initiative, and with the approval and support of the City of Bjelovar and the Bjelovar–Bilogora County as co-founders. The operation plans of the Institute were oriented towards the purpose of the operation of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts as founder, and towards the research-related and cultural needs of the co-founders of the Institute, which financed its operation. The author lists information on the Institute management (Director, Administrative Secretary, and the Institute Council). Kronologija aktivnosti Zavoda u Bjelovaru (2003. – 2023.) / Chronology of the Activities of the Institute in Bjelovar (2003–2023), the publishing activity that proved particularly successful in editing and publishing the scientific journal entitled Radovi Zavoda za znanstvenoistraživački i umjetnički rad u Bjelovaru / Papers of the Institute for Scientific Research and Artistic Work in Bjelovar (seventeen volumes have been published), and the seventeen books published in the edition Posebna izdanja Zavoda za znanstvenoistraživački i umjetnički rad u Bjelovaru / Special Issues of the Institute for Scientific Research and Artistic Work in Bjelovar, form substantial parts of the paper. The total number of pages is 9,731. The author stresses the importance of the role of many associates who were involved in the activities of the Institute, and as reviewers of the journals and the books. Based on the facts related to the operation results, it may be concluded that over the last two decades, the Academy Institute in Bjelovar has operated successfully and achieved respectable results.
