Summary/Abstract: In this work, profession and economic management, which today seeks to forcibly squeeze into every pore of professional activities is set in counterpoint to the example of public archival service. The sole profit orientation as dominant modern management has shown in recent years as a heavy burden of most companies is the financial benefit of the few and economic ruin for others. Such an orientation, however, still continues to impose even in those activities which are by their nature non-profit. Ethical responsibility of archival experts (individuals and entire profession) within the public archive service requires a common definition of the proper relationship between “profit value” of their own professional work, and their “commercial” level about which we increasingly speak more and more often. Public archival service is organized by the community that entrusts it with the primary concern of information, knowledge and archival documentary heritage, and it is the foundation of identity that builds modern society. Expecting from public archival service to carry this task without any absolute financial and other support from the society and to impose a model of commercialization as a significant source of self-financing or co-financing of public archival service is a debacle regarding the sense of its existence and the main directions of its activity. Therefore, the current problems of routing and financing of our profession requires great expertise and political seriousness in subsequent decisions and actions!
