Mr. Cogito's Definition of Music

Summary/Abstract: Apart from scientific definitions there also exist assorted poetic definitions of objects and phenomena which particularly frequently pertain to other arts or art objects while, at the same time, proving to be extremely interesting and even apt. In the opinion of the author an exceptionally successful definition of music was presented by Zbigniew Herbert in one of his poems about Mr. Cogito. The text in question is described and compared with several other poetic and historical definitions as well as successful historical definitions. In the opinion of the author it becomes apparent that the definition proposed by the Polish poet is one of the deftest.
