Summary/Abstract: Contemporary public organizations cannot effectively run their tasks without cooperation with other organizations (public, social and private). The collaboration seems to be especially important for the regional self-government, which is responsible for the regional policy and runs it by the Marshal’s Office. That organization has to posses legitimacy to establish relations with the external entities and to employ the skilled public managers who are able to establish and conduct the partnership relations. The author refers to both the European and Polish regulations which identify the institutional partners and the fields of collaboration. The selected results of the empirical research conducted in 3 Polish voivodeships between 2009-2010 are presented. It examined the relations between the Marshal’s Office and its institutional partners.
