Summary/Abstract: This text would like to open the question of the relationship between democracy and poverty. Not in the sense of poverty as the lack of material wealth, but in the sense of the lack of wealth of knowledge. The intention is to question of the amount and type of knowledge which is linked to people from democratically organized societies. Is in today’s world the democratic principle something that causes the progress of individuals in terms of the acquisition of knowledge or is the situation completely different? In the development of the thesis on the relationship between democracy and heuristics we first start with Aristotle’s understanding of democracy and human virtue, with his study of the types of government and the position of the democratic way of organizing society.
