Summary/Abstract: Multiculturalism as a model of integration of immigrants is still in the center of interest of politicians and media. A critical situation in many multicultural societies in Europe verifies some failures of the traditional concept of communitarian multiculturalism, which refuses liberal values of individual will and rights and places more emphasis on cultural and ethnical differences of a particular community. The main aim of the article is to show what philosophical concepts multiculturalism is based on. For this purpose, it is essential to understand the dispute between liberalism and communitarism and their different looks on the question of precedence of good/justice over justice/good. Consequently we can explain the differences between liberal and communitarian multiculturalism in its normative form and understand and use it as the model of integration of immigrants.
