Polish Grammatical Terminology in Nowy dykcjonarz… by M.A. Trotz (1764)

Summary/Abstract: This article presents a lexico-semantic analysis of grammatical terminology in the dictionary by M.A. Trotz Nowy dykcjonarz, to jest Mownik polsko-niemiecko-francuski (Leipzig, 1764). Trotz created an original work that had a significant impact on the dissemination of specialist grammatical terms that have subsequently been reflected in grammar books and textbooks. In particular, the lexicographer exhibited a preference for vernacular terms while significantly reducing the use of Latin terms. The analysis of selected specialist terms has shown that, at that stage, grammatical terminology was forming, with a search for model terminological units and a tendency for them to become stabilized.
