Summary/Abstract: The research shows that 16th century substantival personal names derived from objects: 1) were characterized by a wide semantic variety with the redominant number of names of professions; 2) were most frequently created by means of the suffix -nik which was used for the derivation of 54% of the formations. The majority of them must have been 16th century neologisms as 81% of them were not recorded in the Old Polish Dictionary. Because of the changes in the extralinguistic reality most of them (77%) ceased to be used.
