Summary/Abstract: The main issue in this paper is to present Polish nouns borrowed in the 19th century from other languages. It is to be shown in two perspectives: because of the origin and because of lexical-semantic fields among nouns. Only formal-semantic borrowings, which are the main part of all borrowings, have been taken into consideration in the analysis. According to languages which had a great influence on Polish in the 19th century it is to be said about French, Latin and German. The results of lexical data analysis of the 19th century’s Polish nouns shows that vocabulary was in fact developing under the influence of many languages. Three lexical-semantic fields might be recognized as the most significant because of the number of new borrowings. This refers to the following fields: ‹‹The human’s house››, ‹‹The human and the community›› and ‹‹The human and the state››.
