Summary/Abstract: Delicate and moderate, despite occasional outbursts, Mr. Nicolescu lacked the "vocation" for pounding his fist on the table. He preferred to resolve situations without bitterness while firmly defending his professional domain (a trait evident even when other obligations temporarily distanced him from the institute). Without perceiving reality in stark black and white and fully aware of the relativity of human affairs, he found it distasteful to strive for some dazzling victory by elbowing his way through. He would have immediately abandoned a battlefield foreshadowing potential casualties.
