Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the idea of the revival of Hebrew expressed in Shlomo Ibn Gabirol’s grammatical poem The Book of the Necklace, and seeks its sources in the Karaite tradition. It also explores the phenomenon of increased interest in Hebrew in the medieval Jewish world, mentioning the discussions about the origin, nature and status of Hebrew (divine or human creation; special or like all other languages), as well as the possibility of returning to its use in everyday life.
