Summary/Abstract: With the development of digital technologies, e-commerce has proven to be a keydriver of economic growth in the European Union’s internal market. With the aim of increasing legal certainty, reducing transaction costs and ensuring a high level of consumer protection, as well as promoting the competitiveness of small and medium sized enterprises, the need for harmonizing certain aspects related to contracts for the purchase of goods has emerged. The European legislator responded to this challenge by adopting Directive EU 2019/771 on certain aspects of contracts for the sale of goods. The implementation of the Directive EU 2019/771 in the national legislation of the member states of the European Union brought reforms in the area of responsibility for material defects in compulsory law. The aim of the paper is to point out the opportunities for the legislator of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the context of the legal regulation of this important legal issue through the analysis of changes in the Croatian, German and Polish legislative framework on obligations in the case of liability for material defects.
