Summary/Abstract: This article analyses selected aspects of language contacts between Poland and China, with a particular focus on linguistic interactions in Harbin, a city located in north-eastern China, between 1898 and 1949. The aim of the study is to show the dynamics of the development of these contacts in the Harbin area, starting with the arrival of Poles in the area in connection with the construction of the East China Railway and with the establishment of a Polish community in the city, through initial negative attitudes towards foreign culture, to assimilation processes. The case study method and document research method (including analysis of the Harbin press) are in the research. The results show that the Polish community in Harbin is one of the key elements in the history of language relations between Poland and China.
