Summary/Abstract: Theatre production during the pandemic bears witness to the common experience that the development of theatre art is conditioned by the development of technology. The emphasis or denial of this influence ultimately refers to theatrical pluralism or the approach with which producers and artists choose to create theatrical reality. The online environment and screen culture are not topics that were particularly relevant during the pandemic. The problem arose when these topics became the only possibility. Theatres faced the digital paradigm in different ways. While some were ready to welcome the possibility of adapting and acting in an online environment, others realized that they were far from the digital paradigm. The experience of the pandemic has confronted us with the necessary digital transformation from different aspects. We are witnessing either a lack of reaction or proactive solutions that very quickly lead to opportunities for action and creation. Examples range from resistance to acceptance, from clumsy to innovative, and from closed to open. The cold canvas slowly warmed up, and the need for empathy led to emotions despite the insistence that theater is a living art. The pandemic imposed new approaches, knowledge, and skills.
