Summary/Abstract: The paper presents attitudes towards the blind from two perspectives. An overview of the history of the use of blind-related terminology, which is far from value-neutral and rather tied to a particular society and period of time, is followed by a brief overview of the development of education for the blind from its beginnings worldwide and in Slovenia, through segregated education to, last but not least, inclusion in the mainstream education system.
