Summary/Abstract: The objective of training and developing skills for independent living of young people in institutions is to educate and train them to face the next stage of their lives: social and professional integration. This objective must be pursued by social workers, case managers, educators/trainers in residential institutions throughout the psycho-affective development of the institutionalised child. Within this general objective, operational objectives can be added such as: reducing the number of unemployed young people from the protection system, reducing the phenomenon of begging, reducing the crime rate among young people from the protection system, reducing the number of young people dependent on the social insurance and social protection system, etc. In many cases, when leaving the institution, young people experience repeated failures in their social and professional integration, even if they receive support, guidance and monitoring from specialists. This is due to the fact that independent living skills training has not been a clear objective in their development.
