Summary/Abstract: The paper points out the possibility that the involvement/engagement of Trifun Drago, the nobleman/patrician of Kotor (Cattaro), in the field of organising postal traffic between Venice and Constantinople via Kotor began in 1533, and not two years later, which is the information present in historiography. It happened that during the fourth decade of the 16th century, Venetian officials stopped in Kotor when travelling between the two capitals. Owing to the orders of the Council of Ten addressed to the rectors and provisors of Kotor and their reports, as well as other sources, it is possible to reconstruct the organisation and functioning of the intelligence apparatus of the Republic of Venice. A significant link in this chain was the rector and provisor of Kotor, whose role was reflected in finding and sending trustees to Constantinople and forwarding letters and notifications to Constantinople and Venice.
