Summary/Abstract: Žarko Vidović is among the most authentic and versatile intellectuals and thinkers within the Serbian nation. He, in the spirit of Hellenic thinkers, expressed great truths clearly because the truth can and must be expressed only that way. He was a man of di- alogue and unique, deep and uncompromising thinking. He experientially and sacrifici- ally witnessed the truth primarily through faith, but also through philosophy, art, and literature, and united all of this in the Orthodox Holy Sava-covenant thought of the Serbian people. He approached the decades-long study of Njegoš in a special and almost unique way and wrote over 2,500 pages about him. Žarko Vidović’s testimony about Sarajevo from the years of 1941–42 and his writings about the suffering of Vukašin Mandrapa are very unique and authentic. Especially from 1953 to 1961, he was not only a witness, but a direct participant, and often the initiator of many intellectual and cultural events in Sarajevo. Although he left Sarajevo and the territory of Bosnia and Herzego- vina in 1961, he was wholeheartedly present in his homeland in important and difficult moments, so he contributed to the founding of the University of Serbian Sarajevo and in 1993 became one of the founders and lecturers of the Duhovna academy and today’s Orthodox Theological Faculty “St. Vasilije Ostroški” in Foča.
