Summary/Abstract: The paper initiates a nuanced exploration by placing side by side two distinct in- terpretations concerning the essence and role of unnatural narratology within the domain of post-classical narratology. Brian Richardson’s focus hones in on the unnatural, charac- terizing it as a departure that defies established genre conventions. In parallel, Jan Alber delves into the unnatural by framing it as a transgression against the logical, physical and humanly conceivable laws. These divergent perspectives are collectively scrutinized within the broader philosophical context influenced by Jacques Derrida, who posits that irreducible invention is an unattainable feat in the realm of writing. An essential focal point of this inquiry is ‘The Kolubara Trilogy’ by Radovan Beli Marković, where the paper contends that the unattainability of a complete narrative serves as its fundamental theme. Within this narrative landscape, the incompleteness of the text undergoes a tran- sformative shift, evolving into a foundational starting point for the examination of the divided subject as a wellspring of the unnatural and the abject.
