Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to describe the achievements of Prof. Maria Szymanowicz, a long-time employee of the Institute of Arts Studies of the Catholic University of Lublin and head of the Department of Instrumentology, in the scientific, didactic and organizational fields. Prof. M. Szymanowicz is a researcher of the history of Polish organ construction and church music. In the scientific field, she is primarily the author of Polish Pipe Organ Bibliography. In addition to her scientific work, she is also active didactially by giving lectures and promoting doctoral and diploma theses as part of first and second degree musicology studies. Prof. Szymanowicz also carries out a number of organizational works by being a member of some scientific bodies and committees. She is the author of many inventory descriptions and expert opinions on historic organs.
