Sources of funding the purchase of zero- and low carbon means of public transport in Poland

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present sources of funding the purchase of zero- and low carbon means of public transport in Polish towns and cities. Cities deal with a lot of ecological problems. These problems are caused by the increase of mobility among the whole population. It results in the intensification of feeling negative effects of public transport such as air pollution, noise and civilization diseases. The European Union has got more and more demands and restrictions concerning the exhaust emission standards. The authorities in charge of public transport seek for the solutions supporting ecological initiatives. Projects which influenced the increase of the number of ecological vehicles in Polish towns and cities are shown in the article. Particular attention is paid to the possibilities of obtaining funds from a variety of external sources including EU budget.
