Empirical studies on transactional financial exclusion in Poland

Summary/Abstract: Polish market is characterized by a considerable degree of transactional financial exclusion of citizens as compared to other European Union member states. Empirical studies have shown that the major reason for this is the self-exclusion of consumers − a determinant of the nature of the Polish market. The studies have confirmed a strong differentiation in the degree of banking services usage due to demographic and socio-economic factors. The most important reason for external transactional financial exclusion is low income, while the location factor is of secondary importance.
