Summary/Abstract: In this article I turn attention to the role of Eris (‘Strife’/’Discord’) in Hesiod’s Opera et dies. Namely, I attempt to consider the question of extent to which the role of the personified deity of ‘Strife’, so evidently exposed in the poem, as well as the related story (μῦθος) of the Iron Age, can be interpreted as a Hesiodic ‘commentary’ on the socio-political reality of his time.
