Summary/Abstract: The historical path of development of Russia as a state on its way more than a thousand years shows greater stability, repeatability of the well-known events. For modern Russia it is important that Peter the Great was able to solve the problem of a shortage of funds using other advantages of the Russian state (strong supreme power, the main resources of the country owned by the government, great country’s population, conscription of the population). Historical lessons of state reforms of Peter the Great in Russia today: the preservation of a strong presidential “vertical of power”, the presence at the top of the pyramid of power of the outstanding statesman of illiberal type, measures to increase the number of population, the preservation of universal service, effective management of natural resources.
