Summary/Abstract: The Sora reference point in Cluj-Napoca, with a stop bearing its name, is well-known, but little is known about its history, or at least it is not widely recognized. Gaál György mentions it in his book Magyarok utcája, but his research primarily focused on the three buildings that previously stood on the site of the Sora building, and their demolition "disrupted the streetscape." In contemporary photographs (such as the one taken by Ferenc Veress in 1859), it is still clearly visible that the building site was originally three plots, each with a house. By the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, all three buildings had come into church ownership. Previously, the buildings were mainly inhabited by church leaders, the pastors of the Cluj Unitarian congregation, such as János Kriza and József Ferencz, but for a short time, one of them was also home to Áron Berde, who was the first rector of the predecessor to Babeș–Bolyai University, founded in 1871.
