Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on chalk drawings by Dora von Arronet, published in 1930 as illustrations for a reader of medieval sources for young people. In addition to looking at the themes and their inspirations, the article dwelves upon at the relationship of the drawings to the visual memory sites of the Baltic Germans, pointing out their contributions to the changing conceptualisation of these sites. While von Arronet’s drawings demonstrate the continuing viability of the Baltic historical image tradition in 1930s Estonia, they also show how it changed and adapted to the situation in the Estonian Republic. The article also provides a short biography of Dora von Arronet as a forgotten Baltic German woman artist.
