Summary/Abstract: Objective: The aim of the study was to analyze the relationship between personality traits included in the bright triad (faith in people, humanism, Kantianism) and emotional intelligence, as well as to check how these variables are related to life satisfaction in peoplein adulthood. Method: The study was conducted in a group of 162 people aged 18 to 85. The Bright Triad Scale in the Polish adaptation by Gerymski and Krok (2019), the INTE Questionnaire by Schutte et al. (1998) in the Polish adaptation by Ciechanowicz, Jaworowska and Matczak (2000) and the SWLS (Satisfaction With Life Scale) Questionnaire by Diener, Emmons, Larson and Griffin (1985) in the Polish adaptation by Juczyński (2001) were used. Results: The results indicate statistically significant positive relationships between the traits of the bright triad, emotional intelligence and life satisfaction. The only trait that is not associated with life satisfaction is Kantianism. A positive correlation was also demonstrated between emotional intelligence and all the traits of the bright triad. Gender differentiated the study group in terms of emotional intelligence and bright triad traits – women achieved a higher emotional intelligence index, as well as a higher level of humanism and the overall score of the bright triad traits. A positive relationship was obtained between the age of the study participants and the overall index of the bright triad traits. The study also showed that emotional intelligence and bright triad traits explain 23% of the variance in life satisfaction. Conclusions: The study provided significant conclusions regarding the relatively new and still developing construct of the bright triad of personality. It supplemented the previous pool of studies with the relationship with emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence and the light triad, unlike the dark triad traits, are associated with higher life satisfaction.
