Selected biographies of distinguished teachers – professors who contributed to the establish- ment of the Higher School of Agriculture in Olsztyn

Summary/Abstract: After the Second World War, Olsztyn did not have any tradition of higher education, therefore there was an urgent need to establish a university. In 1950, the authorities decided to establish a Higher School of Agriculture. As a result, two flourishing institutions of higher education were liquidated: the Hi- gher School of Rural Management in Cieszyn and the Higher School of Rural Management in Łódź. The former had its origins in the interwar period. Many professors came to Olsztyn from the Higher School of Rural Management in Cieszyn, who put a lot of work and effort into building the Higher School of Agriculture in Olsztyn from scratch. The following persons were described in the article: Halina Karnicka, Dominika Wanic, Wikotr Wawrzyczek, and Janina Wengris.
