Summary/Abstract: This study investigates early modern inscriptions in the Hont region, focusing on the period from the late 15th century to the mid-17th century. It examines the diverse influences that shaped the epigraphic culture of the region. The research concludes with an analysis of the progression of artistic styles, the substantial impact of burghers, and foreign influences. Furthermore, it addresses the significant role of military activities, including Ottoman incursions and Hungarian noble rebellions, in shaping the region’s development and inscriptional practices. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the multifaceted factors that collectively influenced the inscriptional culture of Hont during the early modern period.
