The diachronic exploration focuses on legal frameworks and the evolving nature of legislation surrounding sexual offences. Starting with an analysis of Antiquity, the article highlights how sexual offences were perceived and punished. The social norms and legal structures shed light on the foundation for subsequent legal regulations. Moving through the medieval period, the article noted the impact of religious ideologies on the criminalisation of sexual misconduct. As the timeline progresses, the article examines how evolving notions of personal autonomy influenced the approach to sexual offences in a continuously developing legal framework for the future Romanian state.
