Summary/Abstract: The House of Words... (Bacău, 2018; the book commemorates the bicentennial of the writer's birth) reconstructs diachronically the story of this topos through a polyphonic discourse, which gives the text multiple meanings. Thus, we can talk about a memory book, an argument book, but also a puzzle book, with the ultimate goal of "saving at the last moment the 'Vasile Alecsandri' House in Bacău" (p. 5). Through this publication, Ioan Dănilă completes a trilogy – after Alecsandri, the Bacău native (Bacău, Alma Mater Publishing House, 2011) and Alecsandri, back home (Bacău, Ateneul Scriitorilor Publishing House, 2017) – a sign of the steadfastness of the passionate defender of national heritage values. The author assumes the role of a modern rhapsodist, an efficient transmitter of collective memory. This gesture may have reflexes subordinated to fundamental needs: the need for identity, belonging, security, continuity, and the power of example, which should generate enthusiasm and respect.
