Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the image of a woman as a perpetrator of a prohibitedact. The basis for the analysis is the published court book of two vicars general of the Archdiocese of Gniezno, Sędek of Czechel and Jan of Brzóstków from the years 1449–1453 and 1455. Its pages present over 500 various types of cases that were subject to the vicar’s decision. Among them, 78 concerned women as guilty of such acts as maintaining intimate relations with a priest, adultery, heresy, witchcraft, physical violence against their husbands or other people, sacrilege or infanticide.
