Childhood in the experience of life. An autobiographical sketch

Summary/Abstract: The text is an attempt at self-analysis. In it, I analyze my own early childhood memories, using mycurrent knowledge. Referring to qualitative research methods such as autoethnography and autobi-ography, I aim to describe the specific social and cultural conditions of growing up during the 1960sin a small border town in southern Czechoslovakia. I explore several questions: What hidden mes-sages about the divisions and relationships between adults and children emerge from my memoirs?What class divisions underpin the ways adults treated children? What were the gender dynamics inschools and families?
