ACADEMIC IMPACT FACTOR ACCORDING TO THE SCIENTIFIC DATABASE OF GOOGLE SCHOLAR

Summary/Abstract: Universities are essential factors for the development and prosperity of societies in all areas. In this regard, there is a need to create sustainable systems to monitor, measure and track the activities of universities by activating their primary roles: education, research and public services. The prosperity of society and the sustainability of societal systems is a function of the research conducted by universities. In this context, the impact of scientific research has generated scientific and scientific-practical interest in the last decade. The development of academic research has added value to society. As in the modern world, these studies are an irrevocable element of innovation. Accountability within the university management system is not limited only to the quality of education but also covers the research activities of professors. In this regard, evaluating the impact of academic research requires constant monitoring of faculty research activities. From a management perspective, evaluation and monitoring are part of management control. The main goal of the present work is to investigate the characteristics of the concept of "academic impact factor". The research question posed is: "What are the characteristics of the concept of "academic impact factor"?". The research toolkit used to achieve this goal includes the methods of analysis, synthesis and descriptive statistics. The research had three stages: The first stage is the construction of a search protocol: the scientific database Google Scholar until July 2023. Then the search is completed. In the last stage, the research results are presented and summarized. The presented study includes a review and analysis of 12 literature sources that preliminarily meet the added author criteria: documents that contain the exact phrase "academic impact factor" for the period up to July 2023. Recommendations for future research are in several directions: 1. Improving the monitoring and control systems of academic research with an emphasis on its evaluation. 2. Forecasting the societal impacts of academic research conducted. 3. Forming a larger research sample. 4. Analyzing and improving the monitoring and control systems of the academic impact factor.
