Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the question of the relationship between the priestly service and the noble status towards the social position and obligations of the archpriest Prohor in the Decani manor. As an archpriest, one of the rare ones in Serbian medieval sources, Prohor is an official of the church, an episcopal envoy with a specific service in that manor. Based on the estates he held and which he received from three kings, he is a nobleman, and has all the characteristics and obligations of that class. The issue related to the village of Zerzevo and the way in which Prohor held it with the obligation of a city servant is particularly discussed. The intertwining of his functions, services, obligations, involvement in the vassal and patronage system, as well as his relationship towards the Church, the Decani Monastery, and the kings, show that archpriest Prohor is a valuable example in the study of the Middle Ages.
