Summary/Abstract: This article explores the application of modern technologies, such as 3D scanning, in the restoration of cultural heritage, focusing on the case study of the rehabilitation of the City Hall in Craiova (the Bank of Commerce Palace and the former Hotel Palace). Using 3D scanning on complex decorative elements – such as polychrome stucco, carved stone, and wall painting – allowed a detailed documentation of artistic components and a precise measurement of their surfaces and degradations. The scanning contributed, thus, to the optimization of conservation-restoration interventions. Detailed digital models allowed a faithful reproduction of decorative elements, saving time and resources, and the use of the technique of decoration transposition on a 1:1 scale facilitated the reproduction of the original composition. This advanced approach provides solutions for a restoration according to the approved principles and methodology, maximizing thus the results.
