Experience as Experimentation: Zenon Fajfer’s Spoglądając przez ozonową dziurę as an Experimental Work of Liberature

Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes Spoglądając przez ozonową dziurę (Looking Through the Ozone Hole)by Zenon Fajfer with a focus on the representation of consequences for the ontologyof literature of the – typical for liberature – radical union of form and content. The textbegins with demonstrating why the experimental quality of Spoglądając przez ozonowądziurę lies primarily in the very experience of reading a polysemiotic and multimodalwork. It turns out that totality and formal radicalism determine deep meanings in Fajfer’swork – as if it were a bottle with a poem hidden inside – hence connecting the visiblewith the invisible, the transparent with the impenetrable. The article shows that Fajfer inan innovative way equates the represented world of a work of liberature with the extraliteraryreality, thus overturning dichotomies such as form–content or substance–spiritand treating matter as a reservoir of semantic power.
