Directive (EU) 2014/89 of P.E. and of the Council of 23.07.2014 for establishing the maritime space

Summary/Abstract: This directive establishes a framework for maritime spatial planning aimed at promoting the sustainable growth of maritime economies, the sustainable development of marine areas, and the sustainable use of marine resources. (2) As part of the Union's integrated maritime policy, this framework provides for the development and implementation by Member States of maritime spatial planning plans to contribute to the objectives specified in Article 5, taking into account land-sea interactions and enhanced cross-border cooperation, in accordance with the relevant provisions of UNCLOS.
