Summary/Abstract: The article first features general comments and etymological explanations of the technical literature with documentary and idiomatic examples. Then the manufacturing and use of the shoulder pack are further explained and the figurative and concrete meaning of the noun is explored. The descriptive idiomatic samples have been selected from the Transylvanian-Saxon Dictionary. In conclusion we can say that this linguistic borrowing infiltrated the Transylvanian-Saxon dialect from Hungarian (iszak - same meaning). The earliest documentary evidence goes back to the 16th century, while the idiomatic samples belong to the period from 1900 to 1970.
