Summary/Abstract: This paper is concerned with skeptical paradox and the most famous theories that try to resolve it – contextualism and Engel's noncontextualist approach. While contextualism was recognized as quite acceptable solution to the paradox, Engel has not only offered his own alternative account, but also managed to undermine contextualism itself, by pointing out some of its severe issues. For these reasons he decided to abandon contextualism, and to take his own route trying to defeat skeptic by using his own weapons. Even though one could object Engel's position too, one nevertheless can conclude that his theory is successful in defending us from the skeptic, and also to preserve our ordinary knowledge.
