Summary/Abstract: The article presents one of the significant concepts of moral categories, which is mercy. The investigations conducted on the basis of the dictionary material of Polish, of lexis and – essentially – multi-word expressions (an extensive set of units in the collected corpus) included a dimension of manifestation of mercy and its nature. Hence, the multifacetedness of mercy, the sphere of God’s mercy and the sphere of human mercy were presented. To complement the above, mercy was considered also in the lexical plane. The above scopes, presented extensively and in numerous aspects, allowed to capture the preserved linguistically shaping of the fundamental domains of the concept of mercy in the old and contemporary Polish language. At the detailing level, the conducted lexical and semantic analysis allowed for indicating numerous aspects in specific confirmations in the structure of the reconstructed system of mercy.
