Summary/Abstract: Investment projects are often uncertain, unique, requiring time, resources, expertise and competencies, which are no longer limited solely to satisfying and justifying the expectations of shareholders. For more effective implementation of strategic investment projects, it is necessary to use modern approaches and methodologies of strategic and project management. Investment projects, especially in their pre investment stage, require the generation of new ideas, modernization, expansions, improvements, because there is a large number of possible risk events that affect the implementation of a given investment project. These can be business, financial, technical, personnel, organizational and other risks. Identifying the sources of risk events is extremely important in managing project risks. Investment projects are by definition uncertain, the future is unknown, so strategic investment projects that bring certain effects in the future are also uncertain. Companies are often satisfied with mediocre results. The perception that all companies are fighting for prosperity and development is deceptive. A large part exists on the verge of survival because they cannot or do not want to have strong leadership, because it can bring them "problems" the need for investments, innovations, business expansion, etc. Process oriented modern companies are focused on monitoring their users and adapting to customer preferences and requirements; on creating a connection with them and creating loyalty relationships. The authors consider approaches to strategic management of investment projects, emphasizing the stages of the life cycle.
