Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to describe and reflect on the formation of profes- sional identity and agency of two generations of female educators involved in chang- ing the academic model of teacher education in Poland. The presented study, which is an excerpt from a report of a broader research conduct- ed in the duo-ethnography formula, focuses on the difficulties of transposing the con- cept of educational work with teacher candidates, described by Dorota Klus-Stańska as ‚thinking theory about practice’, to the ground of real school practice, which seems to be a good tool for strengthening what has been postulated for thirty years both in the theoretical discourse and in the common educational policy of the state, – of the- oretical discourse as well as in the common educational policy of the European Un- ion - a shift from monologism to the creation of conditions conducive to the ‚social construction of knowledge at school’. Through the analysis of the data obtained from the transcriptions of the author’s interviews, which combine educational work with participation in international research and development projects carried out using the Currere method, which emphasises the importance of autobiographical reflec- tion in the professional development of teachers, the complexity of the background (in both systemic and community dimensions) to the lack of complicity of the world of learning and practice in the application of interpretive-constructivist paradigms in everyday school life is revealed.
