Problems of the Polish mining industry in the light of EU climate policy

Summary/Abstract: The Polish coal mining industry is facing problems resulting from a permanent loss of competitiveness and the end of state aid possibilities. At the same time, the transformation of the mining industry needs to be accelerated in view of the fact that the European Union’s climate policy aims to achieve decarbonisation and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In this context, the efficient use of European funds and the realisation of government strategies will be crucial.
