Summary/Abstract: The study discusses the issues of directors of maritime offices as local maritime administrationbodies. The publication consists of three thematic areas. The first one concerns the locationof directors of maritime offices in the system of autonomous governmental administrationbodies, in accordance with the assumptions of the Act of 23 January 2009 on the voivodeand government administration in the voivodeships. The second thematic area is devotedto the legal position of directors of maritime offices, specified in the provisions of the Act of21 March 1991 on maritime areas of the Republic of Poland and maritime administration. Thethird thematic area presents the competences of maritime administration bodies and directorsof maritime offices themselves, whose powers extend beyond the above-mentioned Act. Thepublication ends with conclusions in which the author assesses the currently applicable legalregulations regarding the thematic issues. The research goal of the article, which is a review,is to systematise the basic issues regarding directors of maritime offices as local maritimeadministration bodies. The main research hypothesis formulated by the author is as follows:directors of maritime offices have broad competences as local maritime administration bodies.The study uses such research methods as the analysis of legal texts and dogmatic analysis.The research is of national nature.
